RED DEER, AB - September 10, 2018 - We are pleased to announce that Westridge Cabinets (1993) Ltd. (“Westridge”) has acquired substantially all of the assets of Classic Kitchens Limited (“Classic Kitchens”). “The combination of Westridge and Classic creates a platform with significant operating efficiencies and scale that we can continue to build and grow with,” said James Johnson, Managing Partner of Signal Hill. Signal Hill provided growth capital to facilitate the transaction.
Founded in 1985, Classic Kitchens is a leading supplier of cabinets for both new homes and renovation projects in Alberta, offering over 2,000 combinations of door styles and colours. Classic Kitchens has many longstanding relationships with both small and large residential builders in Western Canada.
The new combined company will be the largest cabinet manufacturer in Alberta with retail locations in Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton. All manufacturing for the combined company will be centralized in Westridge’s Red Deer facility with over 125,000 square feet of automated manufacturing space and nearly 200 associates. The executives at Westridge and Classic Kitchens have over 100 years of combined cabinet industry experience, and they intend to share their best practices to ensure an exceptional experience for clients.
Effective immediately, Nadeem Esmail of Classic Kitchens will assume the role of President of Retail Operations, and Sameer Kanji will be Westridge's newly appointed Vice President of Retail Operations.
Anthony Zellars, the Chief Operating Officer of Westridge, will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing for Classic Kitchens and Westridge. Westridge has invested significant capital to build a state-of-the-art, efficient manufacturing operation in Red Deer, and the two companies will combine operations at this location in the very near future.
"We look forward to a bright future together. This is a very important vote of confidence by Signal Hill in our associates and our ability to grow in the community of Red Deer," said Jack Laninga, Chairman of Westridge.
Westridge was founded in 1983 and has grown from a distribution centre in Red Deer, Alberta into the largest fully-integrated cabinet manufacturer in Alberta. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, as well as recent investments in the company’s infrastructure, Westridge services customers across Western Canada and the United States.
